The Plant-Based Cajun is a meal-prep and catering company based in Lake Charles, LA on a mission to bring delicious plant-based food options to Southwest Louisiana! All recipes, sauces, and spice blends are house-made, ensuring you a delicious and completely original eating experience! We offer meals that are Cajun inspired and highlight how amazing plants taste.

If you’re new to plant-based eating, check out the Plant-Based Newbies meals! These are tested and approved meals from people who have never eaten plant-based before and received raving reviews! No matter what kind of eater you are or what your goals are for trying plant-based foods, we’re glad you’re here, and we hope you love our food as much as we do!

The Plant-Based Cajun, LLC aims to be as environmentally friendly as possible, which is why all of our packaging is commercially compostable and all food scraps are locally composted.

ABOUT THE OWNER

I’m Camryn Clements, self-taught plant-based chef, recipe creator, and owner of The Plant-Based Cajun.

I grew up in Lake Charles, LA as a true Cajun, from eating the cuisine to singing and dancing to my Dad’s Cajun music.

In late 2018, my husband was diagnosed with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease among other symptoms from eating the Standard American Diet. We went plant-based, and within 6 weeks we reversed my husband’s fatty liver disease, lowered his cholesterol and blood pressure to normal levels. He’s since lost 25 lbs and counting. He subsequently studied and became certified as a Lifestyle and Wellness Physician and aims to help treat patients with diet and lifestyle in addition to medications (treating the root cause, not just the symptom). We’ve been able to maintain the plant-based diet long term with the ratio 80:20. (80% plant-based : 20% anything else).

In 2020, I took my recipe creations to Instagram, focusing on creating niche Cajun dishes that were plant-based and/or vegan.

In 2021, New York Times Best Selling author Dan Buettner, founder of the Blue Zones, contacted me to be a feature chef in his cookbook, Blue Zones American Kitchen, published in December 2022. You can find two of my recipes in the contemporary section of that cookbook! (Get the book here!)

In February 2023, I appeared as a guest on Rip Esseltyn’s podcast, PLANTSTRONG Podcast (S4, E184) to talk about our family’s journey on the plant-based diet and to share some advice and recipes. Listen here or wherever you listen to podcasts!

In September 2023, I had the honor of joining the panel of chefs and creators for the 12th annual 2023 Plant-Stock event, hosted by the Esseltyn Family, where I presented recipes and stories virtually.

In 2024, The Plant-Based Cajun, LLC was formed as a meal-prep and catering company, helping to bring delicious and much needed plant-based options to Southwest Louisiana.

On this site you can find recipes, plant-based education resources, Lagnaippe (a little extra) stories and advice from me, and purchase meals!
