Frequently Asked Questions

  • There are many reasons to eat plant-based. Many people turn to plant-based foods to help with their health. Your reason will depend on your goal:

    To improve your health?
    To reverse disease?
    To help the environment?
    Animal welfare?
    Just wanting a healthier lifestyle balance?
    Just curious about what plant-based food can taste like?

    No matter your reason, we’re here for you with some delicious, one-of-a-kind plant-based options!

  • No. Plant-Based eaters avoid certain foods like meat, fish, dairy, and highly processed foods, though it is not forbidden.
    Vegans strictly eat no meat, fish, or dairy, yet they do not restrict from highly processed foods. The main goal of Veganism is animal welfare, therefore no animal products of any kind are consumed, whether it be through food or fashion (i.e. leather).

  • Through our online portal! Select the meals you want, select pick-up or delivery, and check out. Simple as that!

  • Pick-up meals are ready on the following Wednesday at our location.

    Delivery meals are delivered on the following Thursday.

  • Either! Whichever is convenient for you. Please note that we do have a 4 meal minimum for delivery orders.

    We delivery to Lake Charles, Sulphur, and Moss Bluff. All other cities will have to pick-up meals from our location.

  • We deliver in Lake Charles, Moss Bluff, and Sulphur. All other areas will have to pick-up from our location.

  • Your meal is good to eat for up to 7 days after the prepped on date (located on the sticker label).

    1. Remove any portion cup items.

    2. Place lid on top of container to vent.

    3. Microwave for 2 min.

    4. Stir and enjoy! (careful — it’s hot!)

  • Our containers are proudly commercially compostable, meaning they break down into organic matter when monitored at a commercial facility. The containers are made from corn (the material is CPLA).

    These containers can be reused for up to 5 - 2 minute cycles of heating in the microwave. Please toss them afterwards.

    COMPOSTING INFO: There has to be a good amount of heat consistently present for these to break down, therefore we do not recommend trying to compost them yourselves. You can rest easy that when these are thrown away they will over time break down into organic matter, and they will not give off harmful chemicals if incinerated at a landfill.

  • A “bowl” is a meal where all the components are mixed together for a perfectly balanced flavor experience. Simply heat the meal, add the portioned sides (i.e. mango salsa or sauce), stir, and savor every bite!

  • Yes! Please email your inquiries to info@theplantbasedcajun.com. We offer our meal prep items along with sandwich, veggie, and fruit trays. We also make vegan cakes.

  • We do not at this time. It is something we know people are interested in, and we are looking at ways to make that happen.

  • The plant-based diet is associated with weight loss in many respected clinical trials and studies, however we cannot guarantee it.

  • It is possible. Consuming a plant-based diet is associated with lower blood pressure and cholesterol, however we cannot guarantee it.

  • This is a common obstacle with many people wanting to eat healthier. We suggest trying any meals labelled "newbie" as these meals were well liked by non-plant-based eaters.

    It's also worth noting that taste buds change every two weeks. If you're exposing yourself to new foods, those same foods may have a different effect on you a couple weeks later as your taste buds evolve.

  • No. We will have 2 meals to pick from each week for purchase! As we grow, we hope to add more options for purchase each week.
